WMA Medical Ethics Conference and annual General Assembly 2018 – Reykjavik, Iceland

A Medical Ethics Conference and the annual General Assembly of the World Medical Association will be held at the Harpa Conference Hall, Reykjavik from October 2-6.

The programme of the meeting will be:

Tuesday 2 October            1pm Medical Ethics Conference

Wednesday 3 October:     Medical Ethics Conference

Thursday 4 October:         Medical Ethics Conference

Friday 5 October am:        Assembly Ceremonial Session

Saturday 6 October:          General Assembly

Journalists are invited to attend all the above sessions. Topics at the Medical Ethics Conference (see below for full programme) include the ethics of genetic medicine, palliative care and pre-natal testing, euthanasia and physician assisted suicide and the ethical aspects of health data.

At the Ceremonial Session on Friday morning, Dr. Leonid Eidelman, President of the Israel Medical Association, will be installed as President of the WMA for 2018/19.

Issues on the Assembly agenda on Saturday include medically indicated termination, medical tourism, telemedicine and gender equality in medicine.
