WMA annual General Assembly 2019


The World Medical Association’s annual General Assembly will be held at the Sheraton Tbilisi Metechi Palace Hotel, Georgia from October 23-26.

The programme of the meeting will be:

Wednesday 23 October:   Committees

Thursday 24 October:      Scientific Session

Friday 25 October am:     Assembly Ceremonial Session

Saturday 26 October:      General Assembly

Journalists are invited to attend the Scientific Session, the Assembly Ceremonial Session and the General Assembly. The theme of the Scientific Session is Palliative Care.

At the Ceremonial Session on Friday morning, Dr. Miguel Roberto Jorge will be installed as President of the WMA for 2019/20.Dr. Jorge, Director of the Brazilian Medical Association, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Chairman of the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Paulo.

Issues on the Assembly agenda on Saturday include euthanasia and physician assisted suicide, medical ethics in sports medicine, violence against health professionals, pseudoscience and pseudo therapies, antimicrobial resistance, female foeticide, solitary confinement and physicians treating relatives and friends.
