WMA calls for global solidarity in combating COVID

Global physician leaders from the World Medical Association have expressed  their deep concern at the alarming and worsening Covid crisis in many countries, such as India and Brazil.

At their online Council meeting today, they called for immediate support, including oxygen, drugs, vaccines, PPE and other equipment as needed for the worst affected nations, and for the strengthening of healthcare system resilience.

In an emergency resolution they declared: ‘The pandemic will not end until we tackle Covid in every nation and this is a time for global cooperation, solidarity and support for one another’.

The resolution also recognised the huge challenges doctors and other healthcare professionals are facing in maintaining healthcare systems in such harrowing conditions.
