Contribute to the Revision of the WMA Medical Ethics Manual

The WMA Medical Ethics Manual was first published in 2005, followed by a second edition in 2009 and a third in 2015. In addition to the WMA’s English, French, and Spanish editions, it has been translated into 20 other languages.

Each edition has incorporated updates to the WMA policies it references. Since 2015, the Declaration of Geneva, the International Code of Medical Ethics, the Declaration of Helsinki (2024), and the Declaration of Taipei (2016) have all been revised. In addition, the WMA has adopted its Statement on Artificial and Augmented Intelligence in Medical Care. The fourth edition will reflect these developments, update references throughout the text, and address new issues that have emerged since the third edition was published.

Before drafting begins, the Editorial Board would like to seek your views. Section C outlines the changes currently under consideration and asks you to rate their importance. The remaining sections explore how the Manual is used in your setting and what improvements could make the next edition more useful.

The questionnaire should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
