Open Letter
Call for a meaningful participation of Taiwan
Dear Dr Tedros,
The World Medical Association stands with its commitment to advocating for the meaningful
participation of Taiwan in WHO, its technical meetings, and its statutory meetings.
The upcoming World Health Assembly must be open for representatives of one of the best-
developed UHC Systems in the world. At least allowing them access as observers would be
warranted.
Enough time has been wasted in barring Taiwan from participating in the international community.
It has become a shame. It is high time to allow Taiwan again to participate and take advantage of
direct cooperation with the WHO, as well as to allow Taiwan to openly contribute to the multiple
facets of public health work that the WHO is doing.
Dr Tedros, open the door!
