H20 International Health Summit – Healthy People, Successful Economy

The World Medical Association (WMA) will join with the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and AMA Victoria (AMAV) to host the H20 International Health Summit on Thursday 13 to Friday 14 November 2014 in Melbourne, Australia.

This summit will be an opportunity for international medical professions to come together and put the spotlight on health issues prior to the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The WMA is made up of 106 Member Associations and their 9 million members all of which care for billions of people across the globe whilst advocating for health and healthcare access for people around the world.

Health of Nations is a core component of the Wealth of Nations and it has been said that “Health is the greatest social capital a nation can have”. A productive society depends on a healthy engaged and confident workforce.

The summit will address:

  1. Health as a wise investment: Physicians and Health Professionals provide to improve Health.
  2. The burden of Non-Communicable Diseases
  3. Highlight Social Determinants of Health
  4. Health effects of Climate Change and how to tackle these.

National Medical Associations (NMA) from the G20 Nations and all member associations of the World Medical Association, as well as Australian medical and health organisations will be invited to participate.

International and local speakers will lead the discussions with the aim to achieve a consensus of participants and congruity of effort to drive and enhance a global movement across sectors.

Guests will be able to connect, communicate, and socialise at the Summit Gala hosted by the Australian Medical Association on the evening of Thursday 13 November. This is an opportunity to establish important contacts in the local and international medical and health communities.

The World Medical Association, the Australian Medical Association and AMA Victoria are looking forward to welcoming you to this summit which will provide a rare and valuable opportunity to formulate directions to support health and healthcare across nations. These directions would then be promoted with these nations at the G20 summit and beyond!
