Item 6. Universal Health Coverage
Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,
We appreciate the clarity on the stagnation of progress in health coverage and the lack of concrete
measures to catch up, namely regarding mental and maternal and child health. However, the report
and the political declaration of the high-level meeting could dismiss that void of action by proposing
clear calls to governments worldwide:
– Researching and rethinking the best mix of healthcare professionals for each clinical setting.
– Promoting ethical and cost-effective standards in healthcare recruitment, namely through the
Positive Practice Environments standards.
– Creating public-private partnerships which extends healthcare facilities and services while
driving up access and quality.
– Increasing literacy on the availability and access to healthcare resources.
Count on health professionals and their NSAs to cooperate towards these points of action.
