{"id":3941,"date":"2017-01-20T13:45:40","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T13:45:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/WMA-President-DoH-Helsinki-20141111.pdf"},"modified":"2017-01-20T13:45:40","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T13:45:40","slug":"wma-president-doh-helsinki-20141111-2","status":"inherit","type":"attachment","link":"https:\/\/www.wma.net\/fr\/wma-president-doh-helsinki-20141111-2\/","title":{"rendered":"WMA-President-DoH-Helsinki-20141111"},"author":2,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":[],"acf":[],"description":{"rendered":"<p class=\"attachment\"><a href='https:\/\/www.wma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/WMA-President-DoH-Helsinki-20141111.pdf'>WMA-President-DoH-Helsinki-20141111<\/a><\/p>\n<p>50th<br \/>\nAnniversary of Declaration of Helsinki<br \/>\n11 November 2014<br \/>\nP\u00f6rssi Talo, Helsinki, Finland<br \/>\nDr. Xavier Deau, President of the WMA<br \/>\nThe Declaration of Helsinki (DoH) translates the willingness of the World Medical<br \/>\nAssociation and its Founding President, Eug\u00e8ne Marquis, French Physician, to bring<br \/>\nthe ethics of medical practice and research at the highest level with a twofold goal :<br \/>\n&#8211; to ensure a universality of ethics in research on human beings as well as the<br \/>\nprotection of people subjected to these researches.<br \/>\n&#8211; to make definitely impossible the horrible abuse of medicine encountered during the<br \/>\nthirties and forties.<br \/>\nThese ethical principles are often translated into the codes of ethics of each country<br \/>\nor laid down in the resolutions of international organisations which are usual partners<br \/>\nof the Word Medical Association (WHO, UNESCO, UNITED NATIONS, ICRC.)<br \/>\nAnd governments felt encouraged to include the DoH principles into their legislation.<br \/>\nThis Declaration combines pragmatism and wisdom to the \u2018primacy of the individual\u2019.<br \/>\nThis raises awareness of the physician to the fundamental importance of informed<br \/>\nconsent and information of the patient, the secrecy of personal and especially patient<br \/>\ndata, and the value of the professional autonomy of the physician. Under the aegis of<br \/>\nindependent research committees, the DoH rigorously codifies the scientific studies<br \/>\nand trials, and in particular, the protection of the research subjects against dangerous<br \/>\nexperiments and exploitation. The declaration commands the application of the<br \/>\nnecessary scientific rigor, including the usage of placebos when necessary.<br \/>\nThe sustainability of the DoH is a shining example of universality of medical ethics.<br \/>\nEven if its drafting seemed to be laborious, our Declaration of Helsinki has the merit<br \/>\nto be a historical and yet modern document, compiling the cultures of more than 100<br \/>\nmedical associations.
