She was a member of the<br \/>\nUtilization Review and Accreditation Commission<br \/>\nfor six years and served on its executive<br \/>\ncommittee. Additional activities have included<br \/>\nservice on the AMA Foundation board of directors,<br \/>\nthe Group Practice Advisory Council of the AMA,<br \/>\nthe AMA-convened Physician Consortium for<br \/>\nPerformance Improvement\u00ae, the COLA board<br \/>\nof directors, the National Advisory Council for<br \/>\nHealthcare Research and Quality, as well as an<br \/>\nappointment to the Practicing Physicians Advisory<br \/>\nCommission. Currently Dr. Hoven serves as the<br \/>\nAMA-BOT representative on the Board of Directors<br \/>\nof the National Quality Forum, the Quality Alliance<br \/>\nSteering Committee, and is the chair of the AMA<br \/>\ndelegation to the World Medical Association.<br \/>\nDr. Hoven\u2019s involvement at the state level has<br \/>\nbeen extensive. She was president of the Kentucky<br \/>\nMedical Association from 1993 to 1994 and served<br \/>\nas a delegate to the AMA from Kentucky prior to<br \/>\nher election to the AMA-BOT. She has also been<br \/>\nactively involved in medical staff issues at her<br \/>\nlocal hospital and has held a variety of positions,<br \/>\nincluding president of the medical staff, member<br \/>\nof the board of directors and president of the<br \/>\nhospital foundation board.<br \/>\nBorn in Cincinnati, Dr. Hoven received her<br \/>\nundergraduate degree in microbiology and<br \/>\nthen her medical degree from the University of<br \/>\nKentucky, Lexington. She completed her internal<br \/>\nmedicine and infectious disease training at the<br \/>\nUniversity of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.<br \/>\nBoard-certified in internal medicine and infectious<br \/>\ndisease, Dr. Hoven is a fellow of the American<br \/>\nCollege of Physicians and the Infectious Disease<br \/>\nSociety of America. She has been the recipient of<br \/>\nmany awards, including the University of Kentucky<br \/>\nCollege of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus<br \/>\nAward and the Kentucky Medical Association<br \/>\nDistinguished Service Award. In 2013 Dr. Hoven<br \/>\nwas named one of Modern Healthcare Magazine\u2019s<br \/>\nTop 25 Women in Healthcare, in addition to its list<br \/>\nof the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare<br \/>\n(No. 54), and its 50 Most Influential Physician<br \/>\nExecutives and Leaders (No. 5).<br \/>\nDr. Hoven is married to Ron Sanders, PhD, an<br \/>\neconomist and college professor.
