The World Medical Association (WMA) recognises the need to protect the privacy of the personally-identifiable information that it collects from you as you use the WMA Site. 1. Information Collected

WMA collects personally-identifiable information on certain areas of the Site when users register, request abstracts and publications, pay delivery charges, sign up for conferences and newsletters, participate in surveys, bulletin boards and discussion forums, etc. You are informed of the nature of the data collected and whether or not providing the data is compulsory by informative notices displayed at the time the data is requested from you on the Site. The personally-identifiable information collected may consist of a unique access ID and contact information such as names, mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers. We may ask for further optional information from time to time to get a better picture of our visitors and their preferences. WMA encourages users to provide this information to ensure that the content of our Site will remain relevant to your interests and needs.

2. Use of Information

You are informed of the use of the data collected by informative notices provided at the time the data is requested from you on the Site. The data collected is required by WMA to enable you to access the Site. WMA also uses personally-identifiable information to measure visitor usage and interest to help us improve the content and functionality of our Site. The e-mail addresses provided on registration allow us to send e-mails to notify you of new contents on the Site based on the areas of interest you may have indicated to us. 3. Cookies and IP addresses

Cookies are small data files that certain web sites write to the user’s hard drive when a site is visited. The Site uses cookies to facilitate the login process. By accepting our cookie, your password details are stored and a registered user is permitted access to certain pages of our Site without having to log on each time. WMA recommends in this case that you secure the access of your computer in order to avoid usage of the Site by unauthorized persons with your personal login and password. 1. to WMA’s representations in France and in the World;

3. if, in the sole discretion of WMA, disclosure is required to protect the Site, WMA, or its Officers, Council members, Officials or staff;
4. information that you post or otherwise publish on the Site in discussion rooms, survey responses, etc., which are made publicly available on the Site.

You may access, correct, update and/or delete certain personally-identifiable information by following the instructions on the relevant pages within the Members’ Area section of the Site.
