100 rooms have been reserved for those attending the meetings at Prague Marriott Hotel.

General information

Prague Marriott Hotel is located in the city center, just steps away from the Old Town Square and Prague's major tourist attractions. 

The WMA will provide Wireless Internet access in the conference area of the hotel. Wireless access in other areas and guest rooms can be purchased for 450 CZK/day.

Daily rate

The hotel has given a special rate for participants, which includes breakfast, but does not include 14% VAT. The rates are calculated based on the current exchange rate (1 EUR=25.20 CZK as of 8 November 2011) and subject to change in April next year.

• Deluxe room single occupancy: 3,300.00 CZK (approx. €130)
• Deluxe room double occupancy: 3,650.00 CZK (approx. €145)
• Check-in time is 3 pm and check-out is noon. Early check-in is possible at no charge and late check-out till 2 pm is possible at no charge, subject to availability. Guaranteed late check-out till 6 pm is possible for extra charges at 50% of room rate.
• For cancellations until 21 days prior to arrival, one night will apply and for late cancellations less than 21 days prior to arrival and no shows, charge of full stay will apply.

Meals

Dinners will be provided as outlined in the Social Program. Lunch will be at the leisure of the participant. There are numerous high quality restaurants within short walking distance of the hotel.

Airport Transportation

From/to the Prague Airport, please find the information for the public transportation at http://www.prg.aero/en/parking-transport/transport/public-transit/. At the airport, you can easily find taxis at a fairly reasonable price. If you wish to arrange a private pick up service, please contact the local organizers at amca@amca.cz. If you want to share a taxi, please let us know your arrival time at Prague airport (and e-mail address). We will communicate the list of arrivals on the internal website so that you can arrange with other participants.

REGISTRATION AND HOTEL RESERVATION

The WMA Council Session is open to all constituent members of the World Medical Association, to associate members, to observers and to other individuals by special invitation. Registration is necessary to participate in all events including the social programme, and is only considered upon receipt of the corresponding form and fee.

The registration fee is 200 Euros for participants and 100 Euros for accompanying persons. The fee includes documentation, interpretation and all events in the official social programme.

Following to the Council decision in April 2010, the Secretariat will not provide hard copies and folders of documents that are available at the WMA internal website before this meeting. If you require hard copies please bring your own prints and note that only new documents which have not been available at the WMA website until the meeting will be distributed in Prague. WiFi will be available in the meeting room.

The on-line registration is available by clicking "Register" button at the end of this page, and the hotel reservation is available at the site the Prague Marriott hotel set up for the WMA group exclusively. Please note the deadline for registration and room reservation is 16 March 2012.

There will be simultaneous interpretation in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese during the meeting.

PRAGUE IN BRIEF AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Hundred-spired Prague, Prague - the mother of cities, magical Prague. These are just three titles which the capital of the Czech Republic proudly wears. Since the very beginnings of the Czech state, it has been its natural political, business and cultural centre. This historic yet modern city is more than 1,000 years old. It has an extraordinary charm about it which can be sensed in every season. Its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site speaks for its worth.

Climate

April in Prague usually offers uncertain weather with sunny periods but also occasional showers, daytime temperatures ranging between 12 and 22°C.

Currency

The national currency is the Czech crown. Travellers' cheques and all major credit cards are widely accepted and are the best way to carry currency. Currency may be exchanged in hotels, banks or currency exchanges. The exchange rate is around 25 CZK for 1 EUR.

Passport and Visas

The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union and part of the Schengen area. The list of countries whose citizens are exempted from visa requirement to the Czech Republic can be found at the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. And please check a list of countries requiring visas at this page. If it is necessary to get an invitation letter issued by the WMA, please contact the WMA Secretariat at wma@wma.net.

Tipping

Tips are welcomed by staff working in the tourist industry in Prague, although generally tipping is relaxed and workers do not chase them. 5%-10% is appropriate.
