World Medical Association Welcomes Election Of New Director General
Of The World Health Organisation
Commenting today on the election of Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland as
the new director general of the WHO, Dr Anders Milton, Chairman
of WMA Council said:
"The WMA, representing more than five million doctors in over
70 countries, welcomes Dr Brundtland to the leadership of the WHO.
We are confident that Dr Brundtland, with her compassion and interest
in health matters, will be a very strong leader and advocate of
better health care for all citizens of the world. The WMA very strongly
endorses Dr Brundtland and we look forward to co-operating with
her on the important issues of health prevention and health care
delivery."
