Appeal for helping the flood affected people of Bangladesh - July 2004

Dear Friends,

Hope this finds you in the very best of health and spirit.

As you surely know Bangladesh is suffering from one of the worst natural disasters of the century. Nearly two-thirds of the country remain under water for the past 3 weeks. A quarter of the population, which amounts to near 35 million people, are now homeless. They are suffering from hunger and different types of diseases with the death toll rising everyday.

The Bangladesh Medical Association (BanMA) has taken different measures to combat this devastating natural calamity. A number of medical teams are serving in different parts of the country to treat the affected population. We are in urgent need of help from others in our effort to help those who are suffering. It would be highly appreciated if your association or any of your members could contribute to our initiative.
